A personalized, 90-minute tour of the herbal medicine garden at our homestead (25 minutes south of Black Mountain, NC and 40 minutes north of Hendersonville, NC). Meet the plants, get tips for growing, harvesting, medicine-making and ask all the questions you want! Make a donation to take home plant starts, seeds or roots (as available).

The Splendor of Summer Solstice ~ Flowers tall, brilliant and bright~ we are likely to meet so many friends who are ready for harvest ~ Calendula, Comfrey, Dandelion, Elder, Bee Balm, Motherwort, Plantain, St Johnswort and Yarrow. We will cover the basics of their identification, medicinal properties, growing, harvest and medicine making. July in the Temperate Jungle ~ Western North Carolina is a temperate rain forest, which means in July, you can practically sit and watch the plants grow. In the tour, we’ll meet herbs at many different stages of their growth. We are likely to meet Calendula flowers, Dandelion seeds, Elder berries, Mint leaves, Wild Lettuce stalks and more! We will cover the basics of their identification, medicinal properties, growing, harvest and medicine making. Cool Weather Herbs Return ~ A surprisingly abundant time, many of the spring herbs that thrive in the coolness return for one more round of harvesting. In the tour, we’ll scout out which of these herbs are ready for harvest at this unique time of year. We are likely to meet spring herbs like Ground Ivy, Violet, Nettles, Chickweed, Mugwort as well as fall medicines like Vitex berries, Burdock seeds, Goldenrod, Rose, Calendula, Chocolate Mint and more! We will cover the basics of their identification, medicinal properties, growing, harvest and medicine making. Roots! Roots! Roots! ~ After the first hard frost of the year, we turn our attention underground to the incredible medicine in roots. In the tour, we’ll learn to identify the remains of the herbs whose roots we want to harvest. We will come across Burdock, Comfrey, Dandelion, Poke, Valerian and Yellowdock. We will cover the basics of their identification, medicinal properties, growing, harvest and medicine making.
